Topping off a great season of Broadway Hits! Chicago The Musical was absolutely terrific, capping off a great season of Broadway hits. This production has received rave reviews. The score ranks alongside Cabaret as Ebb and Kander's finest work.

All That Jazz kicked off the show with Pizzas and was sharp, sexy and thrilling. There was Razzle Dazzle all through the fast paced musical masterpiece. Director Walter Bobbie recreated his Broadway blockbuster that won the Tony in 1996 and is still running on Broadway.

Bianca Marroquin played the stage-stuck Roxie Hart, who wound up in jail for murdering her boyfriend. In prison, awaiting trial Roxie meets Velma Kelly (Brenda Braxton), another murderess who was in show business. The girls recruit a famous lawyer Billy Flynn (Gregory Harrison) to plead their case. The prison matron, Mama Morton (Carol Woods,) acted as an in-between. When she belted out "When You're Good to Mama" the crowd roared. Harrison is slick as the shady lawyer Flynn and won the crowd over with songs "All I Care About" and "Razzle Dazzle".

The musical score was terrific and the band was in full view on the stage. The entire cast was very talented and belted out some great songs. The choreography and costumes were stupendous.

Although the season of Broadway Musicals is over, there are still some good concerts to catch at Starlight and a trip to the Zoo or Imax theatre is always fun. Call 816-363-7827 for more information.
