In honor of the 100th anniversary of Dr. Seuss and its 25th Anniversary, the Coterie Theatre presents a new version of Seussical by the Tony Award winning team of Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty. This new 75-minute version is fantastic.
Many of Dr. Seuss's most famous stories and characters are woven together in unexpected ways. Meet Horton the elephant, a sympathetic hero, jeered by other jungle animals. Also we have Gertrude McFuzz, an interesting bird and Mayze, who abandoned her egg!
The Coterie's production creatively employs puppetry, automata and change of scale in depicting the famous Whoville.
The artistic and production company is Jeff Church (director), Molly Jessup (musical director), David Ollington (Choreographer), Gary Wichansky (set designer and properties), William Hill (puppetry design and properties master), Jennifer Myers-Ecton (costume desgin) and many others.
The cast includes Kevin Lind as the Cat in the Hat; Seth Golay as Horton the elephant; Gabe Goodman as JoJo, Lauretta Pope as Gertrude McFuzz; Stephanie Nelson as Mayzie/ Judge Yertle; Angela Polk as the Sour Kangaroo; Milton Abell II as Wickersham Brother; Anthony Bernal as Mr. Mayor/ Wickersham Brother; Jessalyn Kincaid as Bird Girl; Mandy Morris as Bird Girl; and Julie Taylor as Mrs Mayor/ Bird Girl. Bill Soloman is the pianist with Frank Manda on percussion. Take the whole family to one of the best shows ever put on by the Coterie. Call 816-474-6552 for more information.
