Keith went for the new BBQ menu with baby back ribs and beans. He thought they were terrific and shared one with the rest of us. My wife, Marieann and Bob
ordered the Stockyards Fillet of Beef (a tender cut of beef grilled and topped with a Zinfandel Mushroom Sauce). Both thought it was fantastic. I went for the Ox Filet Mignon - a 6 oz bacon wrapped fillet, which was tender and flavorful. A piping hot baked potato with all the trimmings and the best-cooked carrots I have ever had accompanied it.
Before the main course, we had a fresh garden salad and a giant order of onion rings to share.
An efficient waiter kept our water and drinks refreshed and constantly checked to make sure everyone in our group was satisfied.
We topped off the luncheon with all of us enjoying their great desserts. There was Fresh Baked Apple Pie Ala Mode, New Orleans Bourbon Pecan Pie with Whipped Cream, and Chocolate Suicide Cake. We sampled each other's and they were all great. "The Pecan Pie was the best I have ever had," said my wife. Take a trip to the historic stockyard area and feast at The Golden Ox Restaurant.
The service was superb, and both owners came to greet us and make sure everything was satisfactory. They explained a special back room had been modernized to accommodate luncheon meetings or private parties.
