New Theatre Restaurant: Funny Girl
Reviewed on 2005-07-08
Runs through August 28,2005
By Marieann Koehler

"Funny Girl" is an old fashioned musical about Fanny Brice. It is the story of the Ziegfeld Follies and takes us back to the time around 1910. Fanny Brice made it big in show business as a comedien and doing big musical numbers. Two exceptional songs are "People" and "Don't Rain on my Parade" You will love Farah Alvin born and raised in L.A. She is a singer/songwriter. Her voice and acting are perfect for her role in "Funny Girl". You will be delighted to see this rendition directed by Richard Carrothers. There are many heart breaks for Fanny. She marries Nick Arnstein played by talented Kaleo Griffith. He plays the love of her life and she would do anything to make him happy and keep him. Come to the New Theatre to see the musical and judge for yourself. All the female and male singers are at their best. It's a musical you will not want to miss.

If you enjoyed Barbra Streisand in the movie or the broadway musical you will also enjoy Farah Alvin. She is so refreshing.

The next best thing about going to the New Theatre Restaurant is the delicious food. Each time I go I find it as great as ever. This time I loved the wild Alaskan salmon fillet rubbed with BBQ seasoning and seared with BBQ sauce. All their meats, vegetables, like sauteed asparagus, polenta and couscous fruit salad are tops. Of course their salad with their two house dressings and all their breads are wonderful as well. It's a real treat.

Don't miss out on this delightful experience of both food and entertainment. It is the best in the KC area.
