Continuing its 40th anniversary season, Missouri Repertory Theatre presents Ferenc Molnar's classic play Liliom in a world premiere. Liliom is a tale both naturalistic and fantastic that takes place in Molnar's native city, Budapest, just after the dawn of the 20th century. A carnival barker, Liliom, unexpectedly falls in love with a young girl and tries to settle into domestic life. After his untimely death, the setting shifts to the Hereafter, where he is offered an opportunity for his redemption. David DeSantos plays Liliom and Molly Jo McGuire plays Julie. Other cast members include Kandis Chappell and Larry Paulsen along with many Kansas City actors. Lillian Groag directs. Call 816-235-2700 for ticket information. The location is 4949 Cherry Street, just east of the Plaza. www.missourirep.org |
