(Runs through April 11)
Danny Pintauro ("Jonathan Bower" from the TV hit "Who's The Boss?") is in town as part of a hilarious comedy thriller where the audience decides Whodunit every night. I remember years ago when this show ran over a year at one of the playhouses in Kansas City.
The story involves hairstylist Tony Whitcomb (Pintauro) who has endured many years of noise coming from the piano playing of the woman upstairs from his Shear Madness Beauty Salon. She is suddenly found dead. Everyone has a motive in "Shear Madness," the longest running nonmusical play in American theatre history. The original play debuted in 1980 where it experienced over 10,000 performances in Boston. Chicago and Washington followed up with long run productions. Audiences seem to like the combination of humor and crime solving. Welcome Danny Pintauro (Tony Whitcomb), Dodie Brown (playing Mrs. Shubert), Jim Korinke ( as police inspector Nick Rosetti), Melinda MacDonald (as hairdresser Barbara DeMarco). Bruce Jordon, who directed the landmark Boston production, directs this version of "Shear Madness" You can always count on a superb meal before the show at the New Theatre Restaurant in Overland Park.
