Mimi'S Cafe
Reviewed on 2003-10-28
MIMI'S Cafés are bistro-like dining establishments that have been serving high-quality, eclectic cuisines since 1978 when the first one opened in Anaheim, California. Serving breakfast, lunch and dinner, you can't go wrong anytime of day. Two locations are close to Olathe, 135th and Antioch (East of Antioch - across from Sam's) and 95th and Quivera (Southeast Corner).

I had lunch recently with a foursome and found the place intoxicating. When we walked in, a homelike atmosphere greeted us with a friendly hostess, a fireplace and easy chairs in the waiting area. Pat Paton of Pat Paton Public Relations told me Mimi's Café wanted to create a family style restaurant in the vein of a country Swiss chalet. He is the local pr representative for the restaurant. A friendly waiter Marc took our drink orders and suggested we try the French Onion Soup and their specialty Spinach and Artichoke Dip served with sliced baguette and crunchy tortilla chips. Both were superb.

For the main course, I tried their signature Pot Roast dish served with baked potatoes, and vegetables. The French Onion Soup was outstanding as was the Spinach and Artichoke dish the four of us shared. Keith tried the Grilled Chicken Tuscan style and commented "Best he ever had" Bob went for the Slow Roasted Turkey with apple pecan cornbread dressing, homemade mashed potatoes and gravy, cranberry sauce, vegetables and salad. Pat ordered his favorite dish onion soup and Pacific Rim Crab Cakes. I tried a sample and it was fantastic. The breadbasket came with an assortment of hard breads and Mimi's famous sweet bread. The food was served hot, ample amounts, and service excellent. Although we were too full to sample Mimi's home made bread-pudding, we took some muffins to go. In short Mimi's Café is comfortable, reasonable with a wide variety of breakfast, lunch, and dinner selections. Prices start at $4.95 for breakfast; lunch at $5.95; and dinner at $7.95. Open 7:00 a.m. until 11.00 p.m. at both locations, Mimi's Café is a great dining destination.
