Are you ready to try one of the top 10 Chicken places in the USA (as reported by USA Today)?

The Squire ranks it best in KC! We decided to try it for lunch last week and were delighted to find it great! Located 423 Southwest Blvd in downtown KC, this family friendly restaurant was roomy and inviting. John Sidoti and John Brooke are the owners who opened Opal's kitchen last June. Although the menu offers many choices including a daily special, we went for the Opal's Chicken Lunch Special for $7.25. The chicken was fried in a cast iron skillet and arrived moist, hot and delicious. A generous bowl of green beans with pieces of ham and great seasoning arrived. In addition we were served mashed potatoes with gravy and rolls.

One of the owners John Sidoti greeted us at the door and escorted us to our table. He explained the baked chicken was also popular. The homemade soups included Chicken Noodle, Cream of Potato, Cream of Cauliflower and Ham and Beans. The evening menu has larger helpings of chicken plus a salad. They also offer steaks, pork chops, fish dishes and many other choices. The homemade desserts I am told are to die for, but we were too stuffed and hope to try one the next time. You can't go wrong with this great new restaurant. Take a ride downtown, it is just off Southwest Traffic way (take the exit off the middle of the bridge) and enjoy Opal's!
