Michael Forbes A Hit!
Reviewed on 2003-08-26
Last Friday we visited the famous Michael Forbes Grill on 5200 West 95th Street. Kevin Lyman and co-owner Forbes Cross have given the people just what they want: an affordable restaurant with a wide variety of food, made fresh daily. Kevin explained how they did a complete restoration to make this restaurant inviting and special. They offer 55 different varieties of food. After being closed 4 years since leaving their location at 75th and Wornall, this great grill opened November 11th, 2002. Many employees, including the executive chef, Tom Barnett are back. I tried the famous curry rice with ham soup along with a Caesar salad for starters. They also offer a pot roast soup I will have to try next time. My wife had the Greek salad. The soup was to die for and both salad were excellent. Hot homemade rolls were served and refreshed as requested. For the main dish, I had their famous catfish, which was served with a huge baked potato. My wife had the chef's specialty fish, a baked halibut with acorn squash and rice. Another friend tried their broiled Salmon, which was superb. Nicole was our waitress who was very attentive to our table. She refilled coffee and water without our having to ask. We split one of their special deserts, warm bread pudding with a special caramel sauce and cream. It was tops! They offer an early bird menu with reduced prices between 3:00pm to 5:30 pm daily. Other special dishes are offered Sunday through Thursday. After being treated like a king at Michael Forbes Grill, our family and friends will be back soon.
