This topnotch restaurant features fine Louisiana cuisine which includes blackened seafood, juicy crawfish, tasty Pasta favorites and gourmet Cajun Creole Delights.
Four of us converged on Jazz in Westport recently and found the service outstanding and the food served timely and hot. The prices were very reasonable and half portions were available.
We started off with their bib lettuce salad, covered with an excellent ranch dressing and surrounded with sliced tomatoes that tasted homegrown. We ordered a side of crawfish with hot butter and Oysters Bainville (6 tasty oyster covered with dressing). For my main dish I had the stir-fry with chicken, beef and shrimp with well-seasoned vegetables over butter noodles. The other choice is dirty rice.
My wife ordered Chicken A La Mer with fresh vegetables and a special sauce. My son chose his favorite Blackened Chicken with fresh vegetables and new potatoes. Our friend tried the Crawfish Creole. Bill claimed this was as good as he was served recently in New Orleans. An ample serving of fresh bread and seasoned butter was served with the meal. For dessert we couldn't resist the Beignets (French Doughnuts) ordered directly from Café' Du Monde, original French Market coffee stand in New Orleans. A special sauce was prepared and we had to try the fresh New Orleans style coffee. The dessert was so good, we ordered a box of Beignet Mix to take home. Our waiter provided not only good service, but was helpful in explaining all of the special dishes. He even gave us tips on how to prepare the Beignet Mix we purchased.
My other son who works in Lee's Summit routinely stops by weekly or biweekly at the Lee's Summit location and orders his favorite Garlic Seafood platter with fresh Snapper fish or the stuffed catfish.
This restaurant started over 20 years ago in Lubbock Texas and came to Kansas City a few years ago. They also have live bands, good dinner, music and an occasional Magician that moves from table to table. Try it soon you won't be disappointed.
More recently, the Gazette staff tried out the Olathe location for lunch and found it superb. Bob enjoyed the catfish sandwich with fries, I tried the heart healthy broiled chicken and noodles and Keith went for the spicy Creole and jambalaya. The setting was outstanding and the food delicious. This restaurant is a real asset to the Olathe area. As a matter of fact, Keith Johnson took his whole family to dinner just the other day and they all found it to be terrific.
