(Kansas City On the Plaza) A party of 9 of us descended on this establishment to celebrate my birthday and some friends' 41st anniversary. Included in our group were my daughter's 3 kids ages 4 to 9 years old. Since we were there between 4 and 6, we ordered their pasta specials, which included an endless bowl of Caesars salad, hot breadsticks, and dessert. The kids ordered pizza and were able to meet the chef and prepare the pizza themselves. They had a ball adding the cheese and other ingredients. Our server Janet was fantastic and took care of our every need. Instead of the salad, I choose the homemade Tortellini chicken soup with smoked chicken and fresh vegetables in a fresh chicken broth, which was superb. Several in our party commented the Caesar salad was the best they have ever had. A generous serving of hot garlic breadsticks came with a mixture of imported olive oil and special balsamic vinegar mixed with Romano cheese. (I found you can buy a set of these vinegar and olive oil bottles for just $30) I tried the Spaghettini with meat sauce, which was served hot, very tasty and pleasing. My wife had the Capellini Diavolo served with scallops and shrimp in a devilishly fiery tomato sauce. She said this was excellent and a very generous helping of shrimp and scallops topped the entree. Mark Wadsworth is the general manager. Brian Willett was the manager on duty and explained about the restaurant and pointed out the Sunday buffet he feels is the best in town. Call 816-561-0505 for more information. Figlios is located at 209 West 46th Terrace (across from the park with the large fountain). For your birthday, they serve a hot fudge Sunday and for your anniversary they provide sparkling non-alcoholic Champaign.
