Cma Country Music Awards Review
Reviewed on 2003-11-11
The 37th CMA awards show is now over (November 5th) and what a show it was! Johnny Cash received a royal tribute and won the album of the year, single of the year and video of the year awards. This makes 9 CMA awards for Cash. Two children of Johnny Cash, Kathy Cash and John Carter Cash accepted awards for their father. Other highlights included Alan Jackson winning three awards, including vocal event of the year for his duet with Jimmy Buffett, "It's Five O'clock Somewhere." Jackson also won male vocalist of the year and entertainer of the year, giving him 16 career CMA awards. Vince Gill, host of the show, has the most with 18 awards. Martina McBride won female vocalist of the year. Toby Keith led all nominees with seven but was shut out. The controversial Dixie Chicks also were shut out. .
