Phil was a successful Music Row songwriter before landing a record contract. He wrote Alan Jackson's "Right on the Money," Jo Dee Messina's "I'm Alright" and "My Next Thirty Years" for Tim McGraw - all this while running a Nashville nightclub on the side. He had his own hit in 1999 called "Carlene," and followed it up with a #1 Hit "Just Another Day in Paradise." In 2002 he won the ACM award for Top New Male Vocalist, and he's also received a CMA Horizon Award nomination. Phil's song "American Child" is a big hit and he is touring and putting the finishing touches on a new album. I enjoyed meeting Phil last year on his tour through Kansas City.
