It seems happen only once a decade. A film with a minimum budget profits tremendously by word of mouth. “Paranormal Activity” is no exception to this rule. Using great marketing strategy paired with a seasonal release date around Halloween this film is soaring. Newbie’s Katie Featherston (Katie) and Micah Sloat (Micah) star in this phenomenal horror flick. Katie has recently moved in with Micah and brought an unwelcome guest with her.
Katie has been haunted by a ghost since the age of eight. The hauntings have only intensified since moving in with her boyfriend. In an attempt to “take care” of the problem, Micah’s solution involves monitoring the ghost. With the assistance of a night vision camera, Ouiga board and other negative energy directed towards the spirit. As time goes on it seems the more investigating Micah does the more the spirit does. His/her presence only intensifies at the home and eventually causes turmoil between Katie and Micah. As it seems impossible to remove the spirit from the home what will the couple do to move forward with their new living arrangements?
“Paranormal Activity” was a brilliant masterpiece. It is one of the few pieces of work that comes across and begs for the audience’s undivided attention effortlessly. Albeit slow in the beginning the pace is quickly picked up in the night setting. This is the first film that gave me chills and goose bumps while watching. The film is eerie and makes you second guess many creaks and rattles you hear in the night. This is a perfect scary tale for anyone to catch around this time of the year. We demanded it and now it is playing in theatres everywhere, so don’t miss your chance. Forget trick or treating, get to the theatre and have the hell scared out of you!
