Let’s start by stating Matt Damon is hysterical in “The Informant!” Mark Whitacre (Damon) has worked for lysine developing company ADM for many years and has even found his way into upper management. Nothing has prepared him for the job he is about to undertake, as he becomes a spy for the FBI. Against his will he is pressured into working as an informant against the illegal price-fixing activities of his company. Not exactly the smoothest operator Mark has many troubles from narrating taped conversations to being the office gossiper.

It seems that Mark can’t keep his trap shut. As the investigation continues it is learned that there is much more going on at ADM then price-fixing and there is a mastermind behind it all. As the FBI gets closer to making its case and shutting down ADM, the oblivious employee is awaiting his promotion to VP as all the other employees will be indicted.

We must again reiterate how comical Matt Damon is in this film. With very little effort put forth he makes this film work. Albeit it has a dull tone and can drag, but once again Damon pulls you back in. Steven Soderbergh’s comical take on corporate embezzling in modern-day America is a riot. Based on true events and the 2000 non fiction book about Mark Whitacre, “The Informant”, by journalist Kurt Eichenwald. “The Informant!” is an enjoyable film, with something different to offer movie goers.
