This campus comedy for teen and slightly older girls was written by the same lady scribes behind female-friendly box office hits "Legally Blonde", "Ella Enchanted" and "She's the Man." It seems they bit off more than they could chew.

Anna Faris ("Scary Movie", "Just Friends", "My Super Ex-Girlfriend" and "The Hot Chick") stars as Shelley Darlington, a dumb bimbo with a bodacious body and long blonde hair. She lives in the Playboy mansion in Holmby Hills, California and her goal in life is to be the centerfold in the magazine for the month of November. Although she is one of Hugh Hefner's favorite bunnies, she is 27 years old (which is 59 in bunny years). She receives a letter from Hefner (who appears as himself in the movie) the day after her birthday bash kicking her out of paradise. Her fairytale existence turns into a nightmare as she becomes homeless living in her beat-up station wagon. She is mistaken for a prostitute by a police officer and spends the night in jail. She ends up becoming the house mother for a sorority of seven socially clueless misfit losers. The Zeta house needs to sign 30 new pledges or it will lose its charter.

Shelley perfectly embodies a superficial reflection of the male fantasy. This booty-shaking party girl knows what boys like and how to have fun. She turns the girls from ugly ducklings into beautiful swans with complete makeovers. Her crash course in meeting guys stresses eye contact, flattery and lots of touching. An estrogen-laced cast of hot and sexy babes includes "American Idol" finalist Katharine McPhee, Rumer Willis (daughter of Bruce Willis and Demi Moore who thankfully looks more like her mother), Emma Stone ("Superbad"), Kat Dennings ("The 40-Year-Old Virgin") and Kiely Williams ( a member of the Cheetah Girls singing group). Colin Hanks (son of Tom Hanks) plays the shy manager of a nursing home who Shelley finds cute and sweet.

Faris wears skimpy pink outfits that show off her long legs and accentuate her cleavage. She broke her no nudity clause for this movie revealing the tan lines of her naked backside. Her dimwitted moronic character resorts to physical pratfalls and a weird Exorcist-style deep voice for laughs. She even has a Marilyn Monroe moment while standing over a manhole cover. It is hard to believe anyone would take her advice.

This movie is predictable in every respect and the acting is atrocious. The main players toss around the word "vapid" without knowing what it really means. It is an adjective that denotes something dull, boring and lifeless. It is also an apt label for this movie that tries too hard to generate laughs. There is a silly tacked-on resolution with a sappy message-laden speech about being yourself. The dog days of August are when the studios traditionally dump their clunkers on an unsuspecting mainstream public. You have been warned to avoid this dumb, stupid and brainless waste of time which should have gone straight to DVD. You can rent better movies with similar themes such as "Animal House", "Revenge of the Nerds" and "Sydney White."
