| Adam Sandler has struck again! His new comedy “I Now Pronounce
You Chuck & Larry” opened in theatres July 20. Not to this
reviewer’s surprise, Sandler again tests the boundaries of
controversial issues in today’s society. In this movie, he
tackles Domestic Partnership, as ing Gay and Lesbian couples'
right to marry.
However, in this movie there is a catch, the leading men in this
movie are only pretending to be gay for the financial benefits.
Adam Sandler and Kevin James do a good job as a stereotypical
gay couple.
The movie has brief scenes of nudity from the backside. It tends
to emphasize the stereotypes on positive and negative sides. The
film will probably upset both the gay community and the
Christian community for the way stereotypes are portrayed. Given
some of the other movies that Adam Sandler has made, I don’t
think he’ll mind that kind of response.
I have heard many of my friends say they are “dying to see” this
movie. I cannot say that I was. But I was pleasantly surprised
with the outcome of it. Some people claim that Chuck and Larry
is a remake of “Strange Bedfellows” a 2004 Australian film,
starring Paul Hogan, but nothing is official.
The supporting cast of the movie does a great job, particularly
Ving Rhames, Jessica Biel, and Steve Buscemi. Overall, if you
like Adam Sandler movies this one won’t disappoint. If your not
big on the topic, like I was, give it a chance. The film was
surprisingly good.
