Ghost Rider is based on the Marvel Comic Character, Johnny Blaze (Nicholas Cage) who gives up his immortal soul to Mephistopheles (Peter Fonda) in return for his father’s health.blaze Blaze gets more than he bargains for when the deal forces him to lose the love of his life, Roxanne Simpson (Eva Mendes) and ultimately his father, Barton Blaze (Brett Cullen). As a result, Johnny Blaze is forever destined to ride night after night as the bounty hunter of the devil. His mission is to battle and ultimately destroy Blackheart (Wes Bentley), the son of the devil who is driven by the need for power.

Johnny Blaze is a death-defying motorcyclist by day and at night a motorcycle riding, burning skull, who uses his eyes as weapons. Believable? No. Entertaining? Yes. If you step into the theatre knowing that what you are about to see is a depiction of comic book about a motorcycle rider turned devil’s reward seeker, you’ll be in for a blazing ride through battling evil souls. However, if common man turned flaming skeleton doesn’t appeal to you, this may not be the movie of the year for you.

Of course, what is a good Marvel comic if not for a love scene or two? Ghost Rider does not disappoint the die-hard romantics. So, who is the love interest of our infamous Ghost Rider? Roxanne Simpson, a sweet girl from Johnny’s younger years whose father thought was too good for the daredevil. Of course, she conveniently grows up to become a hard-working, relentlessly driven journalist who just happens to be covering a story on an extreme motorcycle stunt show. There, she stumbles upon Johnny Blaze and the scenes of love conquering all unfold before our eyes (reluctantly on her part after she discovers his evening identity).

Ghost Rider had some excellent one-liners, comedic breaks, and enough excitement to keep me wondering when and where the next battle might ensue. I would definitely recommend this movie to those who loved some of Marvel’s other characters, including Fantastic Four, Hulk, Iron Man, and Daredevil just to name a few. I would doubt it will see the fame of Spiderman or X-Men but when we are living in a world of fantasy anything could happen.
