Kevin Costner is in rare form in this stellar performance. Joan Allen plays a hothead domineering housewife with four daughters who has recently been abandoned by her husband.

Costner plays a neighbor who is an ex baseball player with a drinking problem and is bitter at life. Things seem to change when they get together and cope with mid life crises together.

As Denny Davies, the beer-drinking retired baseball star living down the street, Costner is wonderful as the one-time star gone to seed. Also starring are Evan Rachel Wood, Keri Russell, Erika Christensen and Alicia Witt, the young actresses who portray the four daughters. Joan Allan as Terry excels in this film, and is able to run the gamut on emotions and character development. The writer/director is Mike Binder. Do yourself a favor and catch this fine film on the big screen.
