Don’t miss this Oscar contender everyone is talking about. It is a love story, a boxing story, a story about relationships that will grab on to you and hold your interest. Hilary Swank, Clint Eastwood, and Morgan Freeman couldn’t be any better in Eastwood’s 57th movie.
It begins as a regular fight movie but this time centers on a woman boxer. Maggie Fitzgerald (Hilary Swank) is a 31-year-old waitress from the Midwest who thinks she could be a winning boxer. She shows up at a gym in L.A and meets crusty old fight manager Frankie Dunn (Eastwood). After several turndowns, she keeps coming back until he agrees to train her. Her devotion to the profession and dogged determination soon wins the praise of Eddie (Morgan Freeman), the former middleweight champ who helps run the gym. Frankie eventually hones her into a fighting machine that can take on the best of women boxers. From here, many things happen which make this an interesting film. While the movie is set in the world of boxing, it covers a lot of other important issues and relationships. Some of you will find the ending has a moral issue.
