This is a true story of a coach who cared more about the boys’ grades and characters than winning. He actually benched his winning basketball team until they improved their grades.

Samuel L. Jackson hits a high water mark in this inspirational tale. Jackson plays a tough high school basketball coach who lays a storm of tough rules on his unruly teens. You have seen this theme in movies like Hoosiers, Knute Rockne, and Remember the Titans. The movie is inspired by a true story. In 1997, the real Ken Carter came to Richmond High School, and he took aim at the school’s failing academics and poor sports programs. But it wasn’t until he locked the players out of the gym in 1999 that he became the controversial local celebrity in Northern California.

Put this movie on your must see list and enjoy a truly uplifting sports story.
