Johnny Depp steals another film. Although there is plenty of action, multiple subplots, and annoying flashbacks, this film builds to a satisfying conclusion as the good guys foil a plot to assassinate a Mexican president. Antonio Bandaris plays the action hero bent on revenge for the murder of his family. Other stars include Mickey Roorke, Willem Defoe, Enrigue Inglesias, Eva Merdes, Ruben Blades, Cheech Marin, and Salma Hayek. Expect more double crosses and subplots than a film should have. Keep your eye on scene stealing Johnny Depp. Although he is clean-shaven and looks normal in this film, his actions are bizarre and over the top. Not bad, but a simpler story and less needless killings would have improved it.
