| This holiday film brings together Tim Allen and Jamie Lee Curtis in a comedy about a couple who decide not to celebrate Christmas because their daughter leaves for the Peace Corp and she won't be home this Christmas. It is based on John Grisham's novel Skipping Christmas.
The story unfolds as Luther Krank (Allen) decides to take a Caribbean cruise over Christmas. His wife Nora Krank (Curtis) reluctantly agrees to go but has some misgivings.
Dan Aykroyd is a hoot as Vic, the neighborhood straw boss of Hemlock Street, who organizes all the Christmas activities and decorations. War almost breaks out when Luther refuses to put the huge frosty the snowman on the roof like everyone else on the block. In fact, he won't spend any money on Christmas, or purchase his tree from the scouts, and he even cancels the traditional Christmas Eve party at his home.
Then suddenly, their daughter Blair (Julie Gonzalo) decides to come home and Luther must put everything back together in less than 24 hours. Will the neighbors help after being treated badly? Will they be able to recapture Christmas? Could be! Sit back and enjoy a fine Christmas movie. |
