Kim Basinger plays Jessica Martin, a high school teacher who is kidnapped and imprisoned in an attic. Using a smashed phone, she is able to get it to work by touching wires together. As Jessica randomly dials, a connection is made to a cellular number of a young man Ryan (Chris Evans). She begs for help and he finally believes her.

What follows is a lot of action with car chases, fights, rescue attempts and everything you can imagine. William H. Macy plays a policeman who helps the cause. Through it all, Ryan must keep the connection but his battery is failing. Jason Statham plays the chief villain. The last half hour of the film is fantastic with some of the best action sequences I have ever seen. Newcomer Chris Evans shows he has what it takes to be a real action star.
