Jim Carrey is back playing Bruce Nolan, a Buffalo television reporter, who is depressed and down with life, even though he is popular and is loved by his girlfriend (Jennifer Aniston). At the end of the worst day of his life, Bruce angrily rages against God who responds by appearing in human form (Morgan Freeman). God endows Bruce with all of His divine powers, challenging Bruce to handle his job for one day and see if he can do better. Then the fun begins and Jim Carrey brings about a lot of laughs along the way to redemption. Catherine Bell, of Jag TV fame, shows up. Also included in the cast are Philip Baker Hall, Lisa Ann Walther, Steen Carell, Nora Dunn, Eddie Jemison, and Sally Kirkland. Tom Shadyac is the director.
