Zach Braff, Natalie Portman, and Peter Sarsguard play the leads in this coming-of-age comedy. Zach Braff (star of TV's "Scrubbs") also directs. This film was a huge hit at Sundance. Natalie Portman has dramatically improved from her performance in Star Wars. Peter Sarsguard (of Shattered Glass) is excellent in the film.

The story involves Zach returning to his hometown in New Jersey to attend his mother's funeral. He must renew the conflict with his psychiatrist father (Ian Holm) who has kept Zach over medicated for his neurosis. He stands up to his dad and stops the medication to deal with life with his real emotions. He begins a relationship with Sam (Natalie Portman) who he meets on a visit to a psychologist. This film is somewhat interesting and a good first effort for Zach Braff in his directorial debut.
