Hilary Duff, Chad Michael Murray and Jennifer Coolidge star in an updated story about Cinderella. Duff plays Sam Montgomery whose widowed father died when she was young and left her in the care of her selfish stepmother Fiona (Jennifer Coolidge), and two spoiled stepsisters (Andrea Avery and Madeline Zima.)

Since she depends on Fiona for school money, Sam tolerates a life of slavery and waits on her family hand and foot working 7 days a week in a diner her father once owned. She hooks up by e-mail with a mysterious boy Austin (Chad Michael Murray) who just happens to be the most popular guy in school.

A lost cell phone replaces the slipper and all comes together in the last reel with the evil stepmother and daughters getting their due. Sam emerges a winner in this modern Cinderalla story. It is fun and the teens should really enjoy the film.
