Two magnificent Tigers named Kumal and Sangha are the lead characters in a truly remarkable film. Actually, over 30 different tigers portray the brothers from tiny cubs to full grown tigers. The human lead actor is Guy Pearce who plays McRory, a big game hunter in 1920's French Indochina, rooting around in an overgrown jungle temple, poaching relics. The story by Annaud and Alain Godard follows the cub brothers through a life journey. One is sold to a circus where he is billed as a man-eating, fire-hoop-jumping tiger. The other is a pet in the household of a French bureaucrat until he becomes too unruly. A local prince then takes him for his private menagerie. . One amazing scene shows the young tiger cub on a shelf full of stuffed animals. It reminds you of the part in E.T. where you can hardly distinguish between the alien and the stuffed dolls. The film follows an interesting road climaxing in a fantastic scene where the brothers meet again as grown tigers in a scene so exciting that it will steal your breath away. This film is a pure delight and is great viewing for young and old alike.
