| Filmaker Morgan Spurlock put his health on the line, living on nothing but McDonald's for 30 straight days. This documentary is shocking although it seems comical to watch. The outcome of this diet is anything but funny. Director Spurlock starts out the picture of health, a strapping 6-foot-2 and 185 pounds. Three doctors and a nutritionist examine him and report he is in good health. But within a few days of this diet he's upchucking out of the window of his car. And his body goes downhill from there suffering a general deterioration that is surprising, even to his doctors. He gains weight, his liver becomes toxic, his cholesterol goes through the roof, his libido sags, he gets headaches and becomes depressed. In between the daily gorging at McDonalds, often with super size Big Macs, fries and soda, Spurlock interviews people on the streets. He also talks to the U.S. surgeon general and a lobbyist for the fast-food industry. Meanwhile McDonalds' will not return dozens of calls requesting an interview. This documentary is eye-opening. |
