Do you remember the United States Hockey win over Russia in the Olympics? Kurt Russell plays the coach of this miracle team based on the exciting true story of one of the greatest moments in modern history. In 1980, the United States Ice Hockey team's coach, Herb Brooks (Kurt Russell), motivated a ragtag team of college kids to take on the acclaimed Soviet Union team - the greatest hockey team in the world - at the Olympic games. In 1979, Brooks had just seven months to build a team of amateurs able to compete with the world's best team. The U.S.S.R. team was a brutal force that took the gold in 1964, 1968, 1972 and 1976.Sadly, the real Herb Brooks was killed in a car accident before he could see the completed film. Despite the long odds, Team USA carried the pride of a nation yearning for distraction from world events. When the team rose to the occasion, Al Michaels' uttered the famous statement "Do you believe in miracles? Yes!" Walt Disney made this great film directed by Gavin O'Connor from a screenplay by Eric Guggenheim. I was astonished at how the audience got into this film applauding several times during the show. Great Film! Everyone should see it and be proud of our country.
