This action thriller from Columbia pictures pleasantly surprised me. In the explosive film starring Samuel L. Jackson and Colin Farrell, and inspired by the 70s TV series, Farrell portrays Jim Street, an L.A.P.D. officer whose recent demotion to a desk job leaves him desperate for a second chance to get back onto his S.W.A.T. team. That break comes when team commander Hondo (Jackson), is assigned to recruit and train five top-notch officers for a new Special Weapons and Tactic unit. After much training, the new team finds plenty of action when a notorious drug lord, played by Oliver Martinez offers $100 million reward to anyone who can free him from police custody. While transferring the drug lord out of L.A. into Federal custody, all hell breaks loose. A dangerous and well-armed band of reward seekers executes a seemingly perfect plan. Other stars include Michelle Rodriguez, LL Cool J, Josh Charles, Brian Van Holt, Jeremy Renner and Oliver Martinez. A nifty cast for a very entertaining movie. The director is Charles Johnson.
