| Mike Meyers brings this troublesome feline to life in an action packed adventure. Alec Baldwin, Kelly Preston, and Sean Hays also star. The day starts off with Conrad (Spencer Breslin) and Sally Walden (Dakota Fanning) sitting at home with a sleeping babysitter (Amy Hill) waiting for their mom who is at work to return for her company party she is hosting that evening. Then, in pops a 6-foot cat (Mike Meyers) sporting a red-and-white-striped stovepipe hat and a red bow tie that wants nothing more than to have some fun. The live-action adaptation of the literary classic Dr. Seuss' The Cat in the Hat by Universal Pictures hits the big screen in time for the holidays. Did you know the book was published in 1957, and The Cat in the Hat is one of the most beloved children's books ever written and remains on the top 10 best-selling hardcover children's books to this day? The producer is Brian Garazer and the director is Bo Welch with the screenplay by Alec Berg & David Mandel & Jeff Schaffer. The two kids are as different as black and white and have pushed their single mom, Joan Walden to the limit. Conrad is a rule breaker close to being sent to military school as suggested by their neighbor and mom's love interest Lawrence Quinn (Alec Baldwin). Sally is a bossy little girl inputting new To Do lists into her palm pilot. Their world is turned upside down by The Cat in the Hat who is the original party animal and tries to show the kids how to have some fun, with little regard for the condition of their house. Will the house survive the cat and the hatful of tricks? See the movie and find out. Young Dakota Fanning who played Sally captivated me. She is cute as a bug and a great young actress. This film should do very well. |
