| With a cell phone substituting for a glass slipper, Hillary Duff stars in an updated Cinderella Story. She plays Sam, a high school student who is being raised by a wicked stepmother and stepsisters, meanwhile working hard at a diner to earn money for college. Sam has a dream of attending Princeton. Meanwhile, she trades e-mails with an anonymous buddy (Chad Michael Murray), who she has never met. They set up a meeting at the Halloween dance. That's when things get interesting.
