| On a cold wintry Sunday evening on January 4th the Kansas City Film Critics Circle gathered in Westport to vote for their favorite films, actors, and directors in 2003. James Loutzenhiser, well-known and loved KC critic who passed away recently founded the group 37 years ago. The circle now meets on a regular basis and is one of the top 15 critics circles nationally. Here are the results:
1. Best Film: The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (New Line).
2. Best Director: Peter Jackson (Lord of the Rings) (New Line)
3. Best Animated Film: Finding Nemo (Warner Bros).
4. Best Foreign Language Film: The Barbarian Invasions (Miramax).
5. Best Documentary: Capturing the Friedmans (Magnolia).
6. Best Actor: Sean Penn in Mystic River (Warner Bros).
7. Best Actress: Jennifer Connelly in House of Sand and Fog (DreamWorks).
8. Best Supporting Actor: Peter Sarsgaard in Shattered Glass (Lions Gate).
9. Best Supporting Actress: Patricia Clarkson in The Station Agent (Miramax).
Next year categories for the best original screenplay and best-adapted screenplay will be added. |
